i think what you guys are doing is fantastic and inspiring. my wife and i are gonna try and make a pilgrimage there to see your farm and farming technique 1st hand. and bring back a myriad of ideas here to seattle to share w/ others what we’ve learned. i think this is good news and it needs to spread and adopted(following you guys example) nationwide. keep up the good work

This sort of thing needs to happen in every major metro area expanded a thousand-fold. Maybe with Obama administration we can get the funding. This is grass-roots urban renewal! Viva urban micro-farms!

theres more grass lawns than farmlard per acre in the USA

could you imagine if only half of us produced food there would be more than enough for everybody that we would be giving it away

If they pass the bill HR 875 we will see nothing but lawns. That bill will effect growing power including “my back yard power”

It is bad news for markets, small farmers as well as local gardens like mine.

This is inspirational! It really makes one want to go in the back yard and get the hands good and dirty. Many thanks to Growing Power for proving that it doesn’t take a PHD or millions in startup capital to run a great urban farm. Thank you very much!

That’s good spirit, but a little misinformed – take a drive though the midwest, or look at Google Earth…
US Census states about 2,260 million. A google search reveals estimates of 20-40 million acres of lawn in the US.

However; were 1% of the actual lawn acreage converted to use such as this? my math (correct me if I’m wrong) would be about 66,666 million lbs of food. The world would be much better off! Imagine 5%
